Cantilevered Chair
Dictionary.com defines cantilever as “any rigid construction extending horizontally well beyond its vertical support, used as a structural element of a bridge, building foundation etc.” Daniel decided to take this architectural element and apply it furniture design.
We debuted these new designs at the American Craft Council Show in Baltimore and they were met with resounding success. For those who were unable to visit us our booth at the show we thought we would give you a look at our new coffee table and chair design.
The Coffee Table was created from solid red birch base which is a very hard, dense wood that looks remarkedly like cherry. The top of the coffee table was created from two consequetive cuts from a cherry tree, bookmatched leaving the organic edge exposed.
The chair is also make from red birch and has a lovely cognac leather seat. It sits very well and is totally comfortable for long periods of time.
We would love your feedback. Send us your thoughts on the new designs.
It has been another productive week here in Litchfield. Daniel completed another king size bed and is now working on two cantilevered coffee tables for a client (they loved the new design only theirs will be in tiger maple with tiger maple slabs for the tops. I will post photos of those when they are complete.)
Troy Brook Visions organic vegetable and herb garden is all in and thriving. The whole bed was dug out this year and fortified with “Black Gold”, wonderful, fully seasoned compost from our local dairy farmer. Can’t wait to harvest our vegetables this season!
Barbara is currently prepping for two more segments on ABC’s CT Style that will be taped this Friday and air on different dates in June and July. Stay tuned for a link to the segments.
Have a great week! This coming weekend is the 36th Annual Litchfield Hills Road Race. A 7.1 mile course this race has become known world wide as a great short race. The weekend is packed full of events in the center of town. Please call the Gallery to check our hours this weekend. We generally like to celebrate and cheer on the runners so the Gallery will be open a bit sporadically this Saturday and Sunday. Best to all the runners!
