Another Week of Rain Keeps All Benches Busy
June 17, 2013 3:12 pmWhen the skys are grey and the heavens open up there is a bright side – absolutely nothing to distract us from our furniture projects! And if you can keep the camera dry, the light on a rainy day takes a great photo! Here is some of what is in bloom at the gallery and studio.
Daniel is working on an amazing expanding table. The design is fun and he is now involved in the intricate, detail work of inlaying three different woods in the top in a pattern to match the client’s stained glass window. Here’s a glimpse into the bases – more photos to come when the table is completed. These bases have Art Deco and Arts and Crafts elements that give them a very retro yet modern feel.
I spent each morning last week working on the finishing of two great cantilevered coffee tables with tiger maple slab tops. (I think I mentioned them in a previous blog and I promise to post a photo as soon as the finishing process is complete. One down side to rainy weather is finishes do not dry as quickly as I would like.) And a bit of my time was spent in the studios of WTNH Connecticut’s ABC affliate taping two segments for CT Style. Here’s a link to the one from last week:

As we get into summer Daniel will be using any down time to channel his inner Italian mason and has plans for a new front walkway and patio on the property. This fountain garden appeared next to the studio the last time he needed to get back to his roots!
